Howzat! Cricket Club Bowled Over by Tindo Support
Tindo, Australia’s only solar panel manufacturer, is helping regional sport and a fixture of the Australian Summer slash its power bills while hitting its environmental targets for six, after donating $10,000 worth of solar panels to Tanunda Cricket Club.
The donation followed the announcement of Tanunda Cricket Club successfully receiving the South Australian Cricket Association’s (SACA) Facility of the Year 2023/2024 award, recognising the club’s significant contribution to the local community and its role as a hero of the Australian Summer—just like the nation’s solar panels, which, at peak times, meet over 50% of electricity demand.
With this donation, the Tanunda Cricket Club joins a growing number of community organisations choosing Australian-made, sustainable solutions to power their operations.
The club is making a big leap towards sustainability, having received 74 cutting-edge Walara Series solar panels from Tindo. Thanks to this generous donation, the club now boasts a 31.45kW solar system that will assist them in generating their own clean energy while slashing their power costs. Additionally, the solar upgrade will offset approximately 25 tonnes of CO2 each year—roughly the equivelant of planting over 4,670 trees over the lifetime of the system.
Designed and engineered in South Australia, the Walara Series solar panels are the eighth generation of modules produced by Tindo. What’s more, they are the only Australian-made solar panels to carry the Australian Made certification, and incorporate N-Type cells—a first for solar technology manufactured in Australia.
South Australian Cricket Association Head of Infrastructure and Government Relations, Alicia Clutterham said:
“The South Australian Cricket Association is thrilled to see Tindo working with the Tanunda Cricket Club, The Barossa Council and SACA to further increase the ESD elements of the 2023/24 SACA Community Cricket Facility of the Year and I thank Tindo for such a generous donation. 33% of venues used for cricket in South Australia feature solar panels and we are pleased to see Tanunda Cricket Club building on this in collaboration with Tindo and The Barossa Council.”
Tanunda Cricket Club President, Stuart Swan said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Tindo for this generous contribution. This solar system will make a significant difference to our club’s operations, helping us become more sustainable while also reducing our energy costs. Those savings can now go back into providing cricket programs for the local community as well as purchasing equipment for our players. It’s great to see local businesses supporting local clubs, and this partnership with Tindo is a fantastic example of community spirit at its best.”
Tindo CEO, Richard Petterson said:
“This is a special moment where Australian manufacturing and innovation are providing clean, renewable energy for local Aussie clubs and businesses. We’re proud to donate our Walara Series solar panels to Tanunda Cricket Club, a club that shares the same values of community, sustainability, and local support that Tindo stands for. Aussie businesses supporting Aussie local organisations—that’s what it’s all about.”
