Tindo Wins 2024 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Award for Medium Business of the Year
Tindo has been recognised with the prestigious 2024 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Award for Medium Business of the Year. The award honours medium-sized enterprises with 20 to 200 full-time employees (FTEs) that exemplify resilience, innovation, and impactful growth within their sector.
Tindo is Australia’s only manufacturer of solar panels, operating out of its Adelaide factory. The company’s panels, which are regarded as some of the highest-performing on the Australian market, have helped thousands of households and businesses reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining energy efficiency. Tindo was further recognised as a finalist for the ESG Business of the Year award through their focus on environmental sustainability and innovation in solar technology has been a key factor in Tindo’s recognition, as is the company’s successful and growing exports to Vietnam.
Tindo’s plans for the future include scaling up production capacity from 150 megawatts annually to a gigawatt through the construction of a new gigafactory. This expansion is expected to create substantial economic activity and increase employment opportunities, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the Australian solar industry.
Additionally, Tindo has formed partnerships with leading institutions like Adelaide University and the South Australian Solar Vehicle Association, driving innovation in solar technology through collaboration.
These partnerships have led to the development of products like the Walara Series, which introduced the first n-type and bi-facial cell technologies to Australian solar manufacturing earlier this year.
Richard Petterson, CEO of Tindo Solar, said:
“This award marks a milestone in our journey, but it’s just the beginning. We take immense pride in being an Australian-owned company operating out of South Australia, and this recognition further validates the hard work and innovation of our team. We remain committed to supporting the local economy and working with domestic partners to meet the increasing demand for locally produced-solar modules.”
“Our priority is to strengthen our partnerships across the country while scaling our manufacturing capabilities to keep pace with demand. We’re investing in cutting-edge advancements and developing a national distribution network, ensuring Tindo stays at the forefront of Australia’s clean energy future—all while staying true to our South Australian roots.”
